Personality: Even at the ripe age of 26, Cartney is still a kid at heart. He's just starting to explore the world and see what's out there, learning about people and interacting with a variety of people. Cartney has PDD-NOS, also know as atypical autism. Over time, he has gotten better but he still has trouble differentiating the subtleties of tones and facial expressions. He won't look in people's eyes. Cartney doesn't understand sarcasm nor is able to grasp the meaning of social interactions that many take for granted. He takes words for what they are literally. He likes to observe people and try to learn how people function. Giggles will always be a mystery to him. While he has come to live with it, Cartney is self-conscious of this 'difference' and tries to hide it well. To make up for what he lacks, Cartney is more in touch with his pokemon side, relying on instinct in conversations and day-to-day life. He has a different, more innocent and natural view on the world. While he enjoys time to himself to tend to his sunflowers, he has a very sweet disposition and is very open to meeting others. He has a bit of trouble pronouncing names, but that doesn't stop him from trying to be the best buck he can be. He's closest friends are considered his herd and he's more than willing to step up and fight for them.
Ohmygosh, I absolutely love this character! I may not be apart of this group/club (yet...C:< ) however I was skimming through everyone's character's and when I came across Cartney, I absolutely fell in love with him (And your ability to know what PDD-NOS is. I was quite shocked--in a good way, that is-- when I saw that he had atypical Autism, being Autistic myself (Aspergers syndrome). Most people tend to stray from that sort of thing, looking at it as "Taboo" or "Something sad to be placed upon someone/something" yet I say it makes real people and any (fictional or otherwise) character stronger, therefore I wish to thank you for making a character and thank you for your intelligence towards it. What really shocked me--again, in a good way-- is how you wrote almost everything that sounds like Autism. Most people don't understand what the symptoms are, or neglect to read up on them, so you, my friend, win the internet and a high-five from my virtual self C: !
Rose:: "Wow, you have a giant set of antlers!" Stares in amazement.
Cartney: He perks up and turns his head toward the Stantler with a polite smile and a simple. "And you have a little set, Miss! Equally nice."
Rose:: Brought her fingertips to her mouth, and chuckled. "They aren't as nice as yours, I'm afraid, but thank you." Beams up at him cheerfully.
AND THIS IS SO PRETTY.
And now he's a gym leader! I'm probably late to the party, but congrats Ms. Mod-pants~
